Healthy relationships are a big part of positive mental health. As a qualified Pyscho-Sexual Therapist, 1 work to create more honest and intimate communication between couples. For many people, failed relationships hold habitual self-defeating responses which limit our ability to honestly relate to our partner. Therapy enables us to understand how these patterns and behaviours undermine our ability to achieve the quality relationships we seek, and then learn new strategies which enable more open and loving responses. I see both individuals and couples who wish to work on their sexual health and relationships.
In addition to my relationship work and with 20 years experience as a General Practice Psychotherapist (psychodynamically trained) I have gained vast experience in a variety of difficult mental health issues. The profound experience of loss applies to many things: a relationship, career, health, the bel ief that life can be survivable. We can react to loss with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, substance abuse, relationship problems, and a return to earlier childhood ]oss and trauma. Psychotherapy offers a secure and confidential relationship in which current problems and unhappiness can be explored in the context of one’s whole life experience.
I am also a qualified Casework Supervisor and take a special interest in supporting health care professionals as well as counsellors and psychotherapists

Dr John Penny is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and registered Health Professions Council Practitioner Psychologist. He has worked with adults and adolescents in various NHS services, delivering both long and short-term therapy. John worked in the prison service delivering cognitive behavioural therapy and treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. He has also worked in the voluntary sector as both counsellor and trainer.
John is now in independent practice in Milton Keynes. He divides his time between therapeutic work, conducting psychological assessments and acting as an expert witness in family courts and tribunals. Therapeutically, he specialises in the treatment of chronic and long-term conditions related to trauma and compulsive behaviour. His research interest is in the conduct of successful therapy with men
