Experienced integrated counsellor. What this means in plain English is that
I work from a variety of therapeutic theories, using the models and ‘tools’ that best meet the needs of the individual client. These include psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive behaviour.
This integration helps clients benefit from the relief of sharing their problems, increase their understanding of issues, evaluate what, if any, changes they might want to make and to help them set, work towards and evaluate those changes.
As a counsellor I am warm, non judgemental and offer confidentiality. I am robust enough to contain complex and painful issues.
I work with a wide variety of issues including – anxiety, stress, depression, unhappiness, relationship problems, work issues, anger, bereavement, loss, fears, unwanted thoughts and fears, assertiveness, low self esteem, lack of confidence, issues from the past, including physical, emotional and sexual abuse, feeling stuck and lacking direction, help with changing behaviours, life stage transitions and self exploration, issues of sexuality, suicidal thoughts, self harm, and traumatic experiences.
I work in private, comfortable counselling rooms in Gillingham, Kent, where there is a waiting room and receptionist. I offer day time and evening appointments and work with either weekly or fortnightly appointments.
I undertake both short and long term work and will regularly review our work together.
I work with adult individuals of all ages, genders, race and religions.
Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work within their Code of Ethics and Good Practice.
