My degree was an eclectic one that included psychology. The certificate in counselling and the two-year post-graduate diploma that followed it were both humanistic in approach but integrated an eclectic mix of person-centred, CBT, Gestalt, existential, phenomenological, art and play therapy approaches. This training supports a ‘bespoke’ approach that is co-constructed between therapist and client in order to meet the client's needs.
I have been in continuous supervised practice for 8 years and work with adults, children & young people, families, groups and organisations. I specialise in work with children & young people (both in and out of the school setting) and people with mental health difficulties. I manage the counselling service in two schools: one in a special school ("Social, Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties" SEBD) and another within the therapeutic unit of a large mainstream school. I also work as a therapist contracted to children’s homes. I have a breadth of experience with looked-after children and with 11-17 year olds with special needs. I also work as a specialist mentor (Surrey & Sussex) for adult university students with mental health difficulties.
Areas of speciality include abuse, anger issues, anxiety, bi-polar, depression, self-harm, substance misuse, sex, pregnancy, relationships, existential issues, phobias, stress, trauma, loss, and life changes.
I am a guest lecturer at a university where I lecture/facilitate workshops on self-support within the child protection arena. I am a full member of BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) including the Counselling for Children & Young People division (CCYP). I have recently applied for accreditation and UK registration.

I'm a chartered psychologist with BPS, now on the HPC register as a practitioner psychologist. I'm trained in CAT (Cognitive Analytical Therapy) which is normally a sixteen week therapy. I recently did some CPD which awarded me the WPF CBT Post Qualifying Certificate. I'm fully qualified in EMDR. I have fifteen years practice experience. Much of this time I worked in a NHS / local authority (Richmond and Kingston) setting specialising in addiction recovery, and support for relatives of addicts. I'm primarily a one to one therapist, but have a lot of experience in facilitating groups, particularly in recovery setting. I have worked for eighteen months in a private rehab setting, which I no longer am involved with.
Prior to embarking on psychology I was a professional musician for twenty five years, and I have special interest in Performance Anxiety (PA). I have an article coming out in the autumn in a trade magazine for European managers in the music business on this subject.
I treat the more common anxiety and depression conditions and PTSD. PA and addiction are my areas of speciality.
